Always an up to date Technology (WordPress Plugin/Theme/Software) – Lil Assistance

WordPress Software, Plug-In and Theme always run the latest version.
⌚ When do you do this?
Ideally as soon you put your website online. Then you should regularly check if there is any update available.

Environment setup:

  • We recommend that you use Google Chrome browser to navigate the web.
  • Access to your WordPress admin panel.

Installing the ManageWP Worker Plugin

  • Log in to your WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Click on “Plugins” on the left side menu.
  • Choose “Add New”.
  • Type “managewp” in the search box at the upper right corner.
  • You should find “ManageWP Worker” Plugin in the search results. Click “Install Now” to install it.
  • Wait for the plugin to install.
  • After that click on “Activate”.

Updating your technology using ManageWP

Creating a ManageWP account

  • Start with filling in with your email address and press on “Sign up” (remember to check the box next to the “Terms of Service” and “Privacy Policy”).
  • Type in your name and press on “Next”.
  • Enter your last name, then press on “Next”.
  • Then enter your website URL and click on “Add website”.
  • Now you have to confirm that you own your website. You can fill in with your website credentials or click on “Use connection key instead”.
  • If you choose to use a connection key, you should enter it in the box.

Getting your connection key

  • Go back to your WordPress Admin Panel.
  • Choose “Installed Plugins” under the “Plugins” section.
  • Find your “ManageWP Worker” Plugin and click on “Connection Management”.
  • There you will find your “Connection key”. Copy it by clicking on “Copy” and go back to ManageWP website.
  • Paste your “Connection key” and click on “Add website”.
  • Wait a couple of seconds until a connection is established.
  • After that click on “Go to website dashboard”.
  • In the Dashboard you will see a list of all of your themes, plugins and extensions installed on your website. Click “Update all”.

You can choose to update only selected items by choosing them with boxes next to them but we highly recommend you to keep all up to date. 

  • No matter if you choose to “Update all” or just chosen ones you will be presented with the “Confirm Update” window. Here you will see a summary of what will be updated. Click on “Update”.
  • The updating process can take some time.
  • When all will be up to date, you will be presented with the “Everything is up to date” message.

You can confirm your ManageWP account while waiting for the update to end. It is important to confirm your account so you will be able to log in to your account in the future.

Confirming your ManageWP account.

  • Go to your email account.
  • You will find a new email from ManageWP.
  • Open it and click on “Confirm signup”.
  • You will be redirected to the “Reset Password” window. Enter your email address and press on “Reset”.
  • You will receive another email from ManageWP. Open it.
  • Click on “Reset password”.
  • Come up with a password and click on “Change password”.

This is it! Now you know how to keep all of your technology up to date. Remember that you should regularly check if there is a new update to perform.
